2014 Fitness Christmas List

What better gift to give this year than the gift of health, fitness, and all of the fun stuff that goes along with them?! Here are some of the things I am hoping Santa brings for me this year!

1. Bowflex Select-tech Weights: These weights can be adjusted from 5 to 52.5 lbs in increments of 2.5 lbs. I love this, it allows you to increase your weight without having to constantly changing weights

2. Lululemon "The Mat": This piece of equipment would be ballin' for my yoga practice as it provides a non slip surface, and when you're sweatin to the high levels of hell in Yogahour you need the good stuff. I'd prefer the mat in BLACK!

3. Les Mills Pump Workout program: This program uses the "rep effect" by having the individual using the program use lighter weights and higher repetitions. I took a Les Mills pump class and LOVED it and would absolutely love this for an at home workout program!

4.  Nike Leg-A-See Animal Print leggings: Enough said. I want these in BRIGHTER colors though!!

What is on your Christmas wish list for Santa this year?!

How to stay healthy during the Christmas season!

Jingle Bells, trans fat and sugars smell, CLEAN EATING SAVES THE DAY!!!! Christmas is such an easy time to get off track of our healthy lifestyles. People have holiday parties, Christmas treats, and the big fancy feast! I have compiled some tips to share with all of the readers to stay on track this next week!

1. Use Shakeology! It helps feed those sweets cravings and curbs your appetite. PLUS there are so many holiday Shakeology recipes out right now, you can have your favorite treat AND a nutrient dense shake. Is there a better present you could ask for?!

2. Eat before! Most holiday parties and get togethers are comprised of finger foods, fried foods, and sweets. Eat a meal or a substantial snack prior to going to your event. This will leave you feeling full and will allow for less temptation during your event.

3. Drink Water! I can not stress enough how important it is to stay hydrated. That's not to say to NOT enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail at get togethers, but don't go over board. Empty, liquid calories are the easiest way to gain back those unwanted pounds!

4. Keep exercising! Maintain your exercise regime, this will help combat unwanted pounds AND relieve some of that stress we experience during the holidays (some of us more than others:)).

5. Bring a healthy dish! If you bring a clean, healthy dish of your own to the event, you will know that there is something that is ACCEPTABLE for you to eat!

6. Watch portion sizes! It's easy to go overboard with portions when you have an endless smorgasbord  of options it's hard to monitor. This easy to reference guide can help you keep in mind how much you should be allowing yourself:

Hopefully these tips will keep you on track during this holiday season, no one wants to lose all the progress they have worked so hard for all year long!

Ultimate Reset Week 1 Results

Today is day 8 of the Ultimate Reset for me and I am finally feeling like myself again! The past 7 days have truly been challenging and while not super easy, it has not been nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. So I have completed Phase 1, this is what Phase 1 is designed to do for the body:

Phase 1: Reclaim
During the first seven days I began to alter my diet, slowly removing foods like red meat and dairy that put stress on your digestive system and make my body more acidic. I began taking four of the six supplements that make up the Ultimate Reset™ protocol—Alkalinize, Soothe, Mineralize, and Optimize.
In Week One, you'll rehydrate your body and reactivate sluggish cell function, along with shifting your body's pH (level of acidity) back toward a healthier, alkaline state, and away from any excess acidity that can weaken your body's functions.

Once your body has been primed, balanced, and strengthened on a cellular level, it will be primed to continue the process of releasing accumulated toxins.
With this in mind, I must tell you the first 5-6 days were not easy. I woke up with a dull headache most days and felt like I had little to no energy. I would feel a boost of energy when I would drink the mineralized water or eat my meal/snack. There were no carb crashes or sugar highs, which was actually quite nice! I have been drinking about a gallon of water a day. I know that sounds like A TON, but honestly it's not as much as you think. I am hoping that I am able to keep up that much water intake after the reset is over!

Results: I won't go into specifics because I am saving that for the end of the entire journey but I will tell you as of this AM, I am down 5.6 lbs and 4.25 inches! I am trying to substitute all grains (i.e. brown rice) with quinoa because I am trying to be completely gluten-free by January 1st. This is a choice I have made since I am currently reading the book Grain Brain by David Perlmutter, M.D., if you have not read this book..DO IT NOW!

I am missing Shakeology and my workouts the most. Other than that I haven't had a ton of cravings unless it is sitting in front of me or I walk past it in the grocery store aisles. I am excited to keep my journey going though, I see nothing but positive things ahead!

Don't forget that P90X3 comes out tomorrow! Email me at to be the first to get your copy when it is released and to reserve a spot in my exclusive X3 challenge group starting January 6th!

Coconut OIl: The nectar of the God's!!!

I love coconut oil so much and I feel the need to rave about it! Coconut oil has SO many uses and benefits and I want to share a few of my favorites with all of you!

I am partial to Trader Joe's organic coconut oil, but you can find all different types and varieties at just about any grocery store. Coconut oil is derived from you guessed it...COCONUTS. This beautiful oil has MANY benefits including:

  • Body moisturizer--this is a big one for me! Unfortunately, I have eczema really bad on my legs and this business is THE BEES KNEES to moisturize with!
  • Cooking-great when cooking with a high smoke point!
  • Eye make up remover
  • Natural SPF 4 sunscreen
  • Topically kill yeast
  • Improves cholesterol
  • Can help improve insulin levels
  • A natural shave cream and after shave lotion
  • Can reduce appearance of varicose veins
  • Alone, can be used as natural deodorant
Just to name like a fraction of the uses. The great thing about coconut oil is that it's natural and if you buy the right brand you will be getting PURE coconut oil. Well, I was just thinking about how much I love this product and wanted to share a little bit about it with you!
